Voice activated idents are a new way of getting an unpredictable style of moevement. The different levels and tones in a persons voice will determine the outcome of the amount of movement in an element on screen or the sharpness and speed of movement. On discussing it I imagined that it would be very refreshing and diverse and interesting, but on viewing it I thought differently. The movement in on screen elements is not much different each time the announcer speaks, even if the person says something completely different, if they talk quickly the movement is quicker, if they slow down the movement is slower. Not much can happen to create a completley different outcome each time whilst keeping viewers focused and interested, and watching it can get rather boring. It is a clever idea but i think it needs a lot more work. Also i think animation and motion is a lot nicer when it is planned out and follows a path, rather than being random. The voice activation style seems to be very abstract, and i dont think it will come out on top as a new way of creating motion, especially in TV idents.
